• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested after police found him in possession of narcotics following a traffic stop and chase. Lawrence "Snap" Smith Jr., 25, 1310 North Ave., was charged with fifth and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and no headlight. Officers said they tried to stop Smith after spotting him driving in the 1800 block of 18th Street at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday. Smith stopped his car, but then ran from officers. As officers searched the area for Smith, they saw a taxi, driving slowly by the suspect's abandoned car. Officers then stopped the taxi and found Smith in the back seat. They said Smith began to throw drugs around the taxi, including pitching a baggie of pot at the cabbie. Police recovered a baggie of cocaine, a baggie of pot, four Suboxone strips and two digital scales.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a theft from the 1800 block of Pierce Avenue. A 54-year-old woman told police that sometime between noon and 2 p.m. Jan. 2, a UPS deliveryman left a package containing bras and jewelry on her front porch. The victim said someone took the package.

• ARREST: A Falls woman was arrested after a shoplifting incident at a store in the 7200 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday. Adrienne Elizabeth Chambers, 33, 4200 Pine Ave., Apt. 19-A, was charged with petit larceny and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Chambers is accused of concealing more than $47 worth of merchandise in her sleeves and purse while shopping with her children.
