ID theft scheme goes awry
A Ridge Road woman reported to sheriff's deputies that an item illegally purchased with his Discover card arrived at his door on Friday.
The woman said he discovered a $1,199 charged on his card on June 11 and contacted the credit card company who is investigating the charge and suspended the account.
On Friday, the woman said a Bugaboo Donkey infant stroller valued at $1,199 arrived at her doorstep. She said there were two addresses on the box, one of them hers and a second, which was crossed out, in Louisburg, Mo.
Deputies advised the woman to contact Discover about the property.
E-cigarette business burglarized
Niagara County Sheriff's deputies responded to a break-in at a business on the 2300 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard about 10 a.m. Friday.
The business owner said someone threw a large cinder block through a side window sometime Thursday night and when an alarm didn't sound, entered the business through a back window.
The owner said several items were missing from her display case along with a laptop computer. Items taken include various types of vapor cigarette devices and a vapor cigar. In addition, about $170 was gone from the register.
It isn't known how much was taken in the burglary since an inventory of items in the store was on the stolen laptop. The initial estimated loss is $1,300.
An investigation into the burglary is continuing.
TOWN OF LOCKPORT
Armed robbery at gas station
Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at a Town of Lockport gas station on Lake Avenue, in Wrights Corners.
Deputies were called to the business about 11 p.m. and were told a white man, between 6 feet to 6-feet-2, dressed completely in black with a ski mask on entered the store, displayed a hand gun and demanded money.
