BLOTTER: Police reports published April 18

Niagara Falls

 
• ASSAULT: Police are investigating an assault in the 1300 block of Portage Road. A 23-year-old man told officers he was playing basketball at Legends Park at 5:40 p.m. Monday when a man approached him and began to swing a knife at him. The victim said he was cut on his shin and the suspect also punched him in the face. 

 
• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested on drunken driving charges after a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Niagara Avenue at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. Benjamin Keith Butler, 33, 1726 Elmwood Ave., front, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

 
• SHOOTING: Officers are looking into a shooting incident in the 2200 block of Welch Avenue. A 28-year-old woman told police that around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, she heard a gun shot outside her home. At 4:30 p.m., she discovered a bullet hole in the wall of her home and a bullet lying on the hallway floor of her home. 

 
• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested on a weapons charge after police stopped him while investigating a burglary in progress call in the 2000 block of Pine Avenue, Taj Kahiry Johnson, 22, 1340 Michigan Ave., Apt. 1, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Johnson was found in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
