FIRE CALLS: Niagara Falls fire reports published April 5

For the period of March 18 to 24, the Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to 122 calls. The total number of service calls to date in 2013 is 1,363.

 
• FIRE: On march 18, Platoon 3 was summoned, at 6:22 p.m., to a report of a fire in the 600 block of 24th Street. An electrical problem with the clothes dryer was the cause of the fire and damage was estimated at $500. 

 
• FIRST AID: On March 18, a series of stabbings and assaults, at 6:42 p.m., in the 1300 and 1700 block of Pierce Avenue sent Engine 3 and Truck 1 into action. Firefighters treated two people for their injuries and both were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation. Police arrested a suspect involved in this mayhem.

 
• ACCIDENT: On March 20, a two-car collision, at 9:53 p.m., in the 8700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard brought Engine 9, Engine 7 and Truck 2 to the scene. The firefighters treated six people for their injuries and all were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. 

 
• FIRE: On March 22, a 2003 Dodge Caravan was reported on fire, at 9:10 a.m., in the 300 block of Hyde Park Boulevard. An electrical malfunction in the dashboard was the cause of the fire that created $2000 damage to the vehicle.

    Police are investigating a theft from a convenience store in the 2600 block of Niagara Street. A clerk told officers that four suspects, two males and two females, entered the store at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday and one of the women brought several items to the counter and paid for them with a New York state benefit card.

    A Ransomville man with alcohol-related convictions was charged with felony driving while intoxicated Sunday night, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said.

    A Niagara Falls man told police that he was attacked by two men while walking by himself Monday evening in the 600 block alleyway between 19th and 20th streets.

    A 54-year-old motorcyclist was flown to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight after he collided with another motorcycle on Hartland Road Saturday afternoon.

    Police are investigating a burglary in the 2500 block of 29th Street. An agent with the CSX Railroad Security Department told officers that sometime between April 4 and noon Monday, someone forced open the door to a storage shed on his company’s property.
