BLOTTER: Police reports published March 31

Niagara Falls

• ROBBERY: Police are investigating a reported armed robbery which occurred at 5:12 a.m. Saturday at a convenience store in the 2600 block of Niagara Street. A store employee said a black man, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants a black bandanna over his face and surgical gloves approached her and told her to put the cash register drawer on the counter while waving a handgun at her. He also demanded she put all of her packages of Newport cigarettes on the counter, she said. He took $40 and seven packages of the cigarettes and left the store heading east on Niagara Street on foot. Officers report a search was negative for the suspect.

 
• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a reported burglary which occurred between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 a.m. Saturday from an apartment in the 9000 block of Zito Drive. The victim, a 26-year-old man, told officers a 54-inch television, two video game systems and six games were taken after he returned home to find his front door ajar. Total damages and loss are estimated to be $1,260.

 
•THEFT: Officers are investigating a reported theft from a vehicle which happened between 11 p.m. Friday and 2:40 a.m. Saturday. The owner, a 25-year-old Falls man, said he parked in a parking lot in the 400 block of Third Street and went to a nearby bar. When he returned, he said, he found a window smashed and the CD player missing from his center console. He said damages and losses are estimated at $651.

 
• VEHICLE FIRE: Police responded to a report at 1:30 a.m. Saturday of a vehicle on fire near an apartment building in the 200 block of Portage Road. The victim, a 44-year-old Falls man, said he parked his car and entered an apartment on the other side of the building. He said he heard explosions and sirens and exited the building to find it was his vehicle on fire. He told police he has no known enemies and his vehicle hadn’t experienced any mechanical failures which would have led to a vehicle fire.
