• THEFT: Police are investigating a reported theft between 1 and 6 p.m. Friday from an apartment in the 1800 block of Weston Avenue. The victim, a 53-year-old woman, said an envelope was open in her mail delivery. The letter in question, delivered from a local vehicle dealership, contained a note "We found the second key to your vehicle," folded over several times. But the victim said the key was not in the envelope. She said she was unsuccessful in contacting the dealership to ensure the key was indeed mailed, but said she suspected her neighbor of stealing the key and was afraid her vehicle would be stolen. She said she'd continue contacting the dealership for information about the mailing.

• BURGLARY: A New Road woman called sheriff's deputies after she saw a man standing outside her bedroom window about 3 a.m. Friday. The woman said she was awoken by a loud noise and saw the man, who was standing near a set of basement stairs with the steel bilco doors open. The woman banged on the window and he ran off. Deputies found a second basement door open but the woman said nothing appeared missing. A small bicycle that had been in the corner of the basement was moved to the center of the basement, though. The woman said there was no access to the residence from the basement. A Lewiston police officer was called out out to the scene with a K-9 but they failed to track anything. The matter is being investigated.
