• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 2900 block of Ninth Street. A 71-year-old woman told officers that sometime between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 4 a.m. Wednesday someone broke into her apartment by cutting through a screen on a side door, then breaking the window and unlocking the door. The victim said a 45-inch TV/DVD combo, a 60-inch TV, a personal computer and printer and a landline telephone were taken.

 
• BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 400 block of 17th Street. A 45-year-old man told police that sometime between noon and 1:15 p.m. Wednesday someone broke into his home by kicking in the side door. The victim said a 50 inch TV was taken.

 
• ARREST: A Falls man was arrested after police caught him leaving the scene of a suspected burglary. John E. Mountain, 37, 2493 LaSalle Ave., Apt. 1, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Witnesses reported seeing a man and woman climbing in a window of a home in the 2200 block of Michigan Avenue at  at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday. When officers responded to the scene, they found Mountain walking out the front door of the home. Officers patted down Mountain and found nine hypodermic syringes and a quantity of Suboxone in his possession. Mountain was not charged with burglary because officers determined he was the owner of  the Michigan Avenue home.
