Niagara Falls

• ARREST: A Buffalo man was arrested on drug and traffic charges after being stopped by cops in the area of Lafayette Avenue and Lewiston Road at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday. Christopher Sheperd, 23, 103 Woodcrest Blvd., was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of marijuana and speeding. Sheperd was stopped when police recorded him traveling 47 mph in a 30 mph zone. Officers said they could smell a strong odor of marijuana in the car and searched it. They recovered a quantity of pot and what appeared to be crack cocaine, as well as a large amount of cash that was in a backpack, according to reports.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 2200 block of Independence Avenue. A 48-year-old man told officers that sometime between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, someone broke into his garage by unknown means. The victim said a leaf blower and some hand tools were taken.
