Wells was stopped after running a steady red signal at Lake Avenue and the Matt Murphy Bridge. Wells appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests, which deputies said came to an end when Wells turned his back to them and placed his hands behind his back to signify he knew he would be handcuffed. • LARCENY: An Old Beattie Road woman reported to the sheriff's office last week she had mailed a 2-karat diamond ring to an online buyer in Detroit and did not receive the agreed-upon $650 payment for it. The buyer was supposed to pay through PayPal, but as of the report had not done so, although the ring was shipped. The woman tried to contact the Detroit buyer and did not reach him.
