• SHOOTING: Police are investigating a shooting in the 1900 block of Niagara Street. Two New York State Police investigators were in the area at 9 a.m. Thursday and told officers they heard four shots and saw a man running across Niagara Street and detained him. Witnesses told police they saw two male suspects chasing another man toward Niagara Street from 20th Street. The witness said a male suspect, in his mid-20s and "wearing a red winter cap," fired three or four shots at the man who was running. The shooter and the other suspect then ran north through the alley between 19 and 20th streets. Another witness also reported hearing three or four gun shots. The victim was not hit or injured.
• ASSAULT: Officers are looking into an assault in the 1700 block of Whitney Avenue. A 29-year-old man told police he was walking in the area at 3 a.m. Thursday when he was approached by two male suspects. The victim said one of the suspects pulled out a handgun, pointed it at his face and said, "If you try to fight back, I'll shoot you." The suspect then fired a single shot at the victim's feet. The victim said he began to fight with the suspects and one of them then hit him in the head with a 40-ounce beer bottle. The man said he continued to fight and was hit in the head with the handgun and fell to the ground. While he was on the ground, the armed suspect fired another shot at him. Both suspects then ran from the area.
• ASSAULT: Police are investigating an assault in the 1300 block of Whitney Avenue. A 21-year-old man told officers he was in the area at 10:15 p.m. June 13, when he was attacked by his neighbor and another man. The victim said that during the attack he was hit in the head with a pipe. The assault was witnessed by multiple people, who declined to provide information to police.
