LOCKPORT

Thirteen iPads stolen from high school

A total of 13 Apple iPad tablet computers have been taken from Lockport High School, according to police.

The computers were taken sometime over the summer break, between June 26 and Sept. 4. The missing computers were noticed when the school completed a recent inventory, the report said.

The iPads were valued at $400 a piece, totaling about $5,200.

• THEFT: The Niagara County Sheriff's Office was contacted Monday about a burglary at a vacant home on the 7100 block of Ward Road. In all, the suspects took 30 feet of copper wire, the main electric circuit breaker and all the light fixtures and outlets from the house. A man who had been contacted by a mortgage company to board up the house on Sept. 26 discovered the thefts. The estimated loss is $6,500.

• PRISON CONTRABAND: The Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were informed early Wednesday morning that a Esquire magazine sent to an inmate at the Niagara County Jail contained Suboxone strips in a perfume sample. The return address on the envelope showed it was sent from Niagara Falls. The matter is being investigated.
