LOCKPORT

Someone goes through dance studio mail 

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies were called to a dance studio on the 6600 block of Lincoln Avenue on Saturday for a report of criminal mischief to a mailbox and its contents.

The owner of the studio told deputies that sometime Friday night, someone damaged the business' mailbox and opened all the mail that was inside.

The owner said contract for her business license was left out in the rain and damaged. She was unsure if any mail was taken.

Former NT man charged with tax fraud

New York State Police out of Lockport arrested Thomas L.S. Deponceau, 27, of Chesapeake, Va., on Wednesday for third-degree criminal tax fraud, a class-E felony.

Deponceau was charged following a state Department of Taxation and Finance investigation which determined he had failed to file and report his 2010 and 2011 income tax returns, with earnings totaling more than $16,000. The income was the result of collecting scrap metal from various locations in Niagara County.
