• SHOOTING: Police are investigating a report of an assault Saturday in the 1800 block of South Avenue Reports indicated that officers were called to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Saturday night where they interviewed a male victim who told them an unknown suspect entered his vehicle, pointed a handgun at him and said “give me your money.” The victim told police his dog was in the vehicle at the time of the incident and he yelled his dog’s name, prompting the dog to begin barking, startling the suspect.

The witness said the suspect then raised his gun to the victim’s face at which point the victim said he grabbed the gun and a tussle ensued. The victim told police two shots went off inside the car and he instantly felt a burning sensation to his left arm. The victim said he released his hold on the suspect’s gun and was able to open his driver’s side door and roll out onto the street. The victim said the suspect exited the vehicle and walked to the trunk of the car and stood there for a few seconds before running in the middle of the street, east towards 22nd Street before running back toward the victim and firing two more shots in his direction. The victim described the suspect as wearing a ski mask and a sweater or fleece jacket, tan or yellow in color.

Reports indicated that the victim did suffer a gunshot wound to his left arm and his left index finger did have an enter/exit wound from a possible small caliber gun and also a wound to his forearm of the same arm. He also suffered a superficial wound to his left pectoral, according to reports. The victim received medical treatment at NFMMC. The incident remains under investigation.
