WHEATFIELD
Scarf stolen from gun range
A 25-year-old Grand Island man called the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office after a scarf he had left behind at a gun range went missing on Saturday.
The victim said he took the Burberry scarf off while he was shooting and left it behind when he left. When he realized the scarf was missing, he went back to the range but the scarf was gone.
Deputies reviewed video surveillance footage and saw a man pick up the scarf, put it around his neck and walk off. An employee provided a possible name from a sign-up sheet but a computer check showed a New York City address. Deputies said they closed the case.
The estimated loss is $400.

VICTOR
SC man charged after leaving gun at motel
A South Carolina man faces a weapons charge after police say he accidentally left a handgun behind after checking out of a Western New York motel.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say a housekeeper at the Microtel in the town of Victor found a semi-automatic handgun under a pillow while cleaning rooms on Saturday.
Police traced the gun to 25-year-old Roman Namonyuk of Chesnee, S.C., who had been in the Rochester area for a wedding. The man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon because he didn’t have a New York pistol permit.
