Man arrested at Falls bridge as impostor
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested a Canadian citizen who used another man’s identification to try to cross into the U.S. at the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday.
Marcel Jones of Toronto presented a Canadian passport, belonging to another man, in an effort to conceal his identity from CPB officers. Jones had been denied entrance into the United States previously because of his criminal record.
He is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals and is charged with false statements and fraud related activity in connection with identification documents.

• THEFT: Police are investigating an SUV break-in in the 1900 block of Mackenna Avenue. A 61-year-old man told officers between 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday, someone broke into his 2002 Jeep Liberty by smashing the front driver’s side window. The victim said a knife and a flashlight were taken.
• THEFT: Officers are looking into a car break-in in the 1500 block of Pine Avenue. A 32-year-old woman told police that between 9 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday, someone broke into her 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo by smashing a passenger side window. The victim said some CDs were taken.

• MARIJUANA: Michael C. DeRose, 20, of North Tonawanda, was charged Friday with unlawful possession of marijuana. When police pulled DeRose over for failing to stop at a stop sign, they detected an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle, according to the report. The suspect initially said he had no drugs inside the vehicle, but upon a search, police found six plastic bags of marijuana in DeRose’s pants. The report said the suspect was arrested without incident.
• GRAND LARCENY: On Friday, a 2006 Toyota Scion valued at $12,000 was stolen from a Wheatfield man on Townline Road. Patrol reportedly responded to the victim’s residence when a call was made that his car was gone when he returned home from work.
