THIRD STREET: Multiple arrests follow melee

Falls police arrested five people after shots were fired and fights broke out outside a Third Street nightclub early Sunday morning.
Police said they heard at least three shots and saw multiple fights break-out as patrons began leaving Club New York in the 500 block of Third Street. Officers fought with several suspects and used pepper spray to subdue one suspect, while deploying pepper balls to disperse a large and unruly crowd in the parking lot and area around the club.
A loaded handgun and ammunition were recovered from two suspects.
Arnold E. Leftwich, 28, 3204 Hyde Park Blvd., Apt. 1, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment and resisting arrest. Jade J.C. Kemp, 19, 1632 Michigan Ave., Apt. 2, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and third-degree criminal mischief.
Akeia M. Martin, 29, 411 Sixth St., was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree harassment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Monica P. Wilson, 23, 829 Main St., was charged with disorderly conduct.
Lucille M. Ball, 31, 453 17th St. Apt. 1, was charged with disorderly conduct.
Police also made arrests as a bar in the 200 block of Ferry Avenue was closing. Jonathan J. Smith, 27, 2503 Welch Ave., was charged with restricted use of alcohol in a public place.
Ashley M. Bugay, 24, 469 22nd St., was charged with disorderly conduct.

n THEFT: Police are investigating a theft from the 2400 block of Independence Avenue. A 58-year-old man told officers that between 9 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Sunday, someone took some outdoor lighting and garden tools.
n ARREST: A Falls man was arrested after trying to attack another man. Jose Ramone Cozchado-Cruz, 36, 1880 Willow Ave., was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment. A 32-year-old man said Cozchado-Cruz tried to attack him with a large combat style knife outside his house at 6 a.m. Sunday.
n BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 1600 block of Niagara Street. A 58-year-old man told police that sometime between 4 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 a.m. Sunday, someone broke into his apartment by kicking in the door. The victim said ham and Italian sausage were taken.
n THEFTS: Police are investigating a pair of thefts from a motel in the 9900 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. A 25-year-old man told officers that sometime between 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Saturday, someone took a laptop computer and charger from his room. A 45-year-old man told police that sometime between 8 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, someone took a laptop computer from his room.
n BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 500 block of 24th Street. A 22-year-old woman told police that sometime between 7 and 11 p.m. Saturday, someone entered her home through a broken window. The victim said 75 DVDs, two videotapes and a Nintendo were taken.
n ROBBERY: Police are looking for a suspect in a robbery from the 1800 block of Pine Avenue. A store security guard old officers that a suspect left the business at 4 p.m. Saturday with a number of items that were not paid for. The guard said he pursued the suspect, and the man threatened him with knife and got away.
