POLICE REPORTS: July 5, 2009

Niagara Falls

• LARCENY: Katelyn Sue Dietz, 16, 1945 Welch Ave., Apt. 2, and Henri John Alfiere, 26, 2415 LaSalle Ave., upper, were both arrested at 3:08 a.m. Saturday after officers responded to a criminal mischief in progress in the 2700 block of Woodlawn Ave. Dietz was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, possession of stolen property and petit larceny. Alfiere was charged with third-degree criminal mischief. Officers saw the vehicle Dietz was driving leaving a residence where two vehicles were broken into. Officers said Dietz’s car came to a complete stop and a male was throwing several items outside the passenger window. Officers pulled over Dietz, who didn’t have a valid driver’s license. Alfiere told police he chased a black male out of a vehicle and was going to get police. Dietz said she didn’t have a phone and was driving to a friend’s house to call 911. After searching Dietz, police found two cell phones — in working condition — in her pockets. Alfiere also faces an additional third-degree criminal mischief charge for damaging the lock on a plumbing door above the sink in the new city jail. This incident occurred at noon Saturday.

• ROBBERY: MyQuan R. Pringle, 16, 1318 Ashland Ave., and two juveniles were charged about 10:30 p.m. Friday with second-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. The victim told police she was leaving a business in the 2400 block of Niagara Street with her 9-year-old daughter and a man when three males started a verbal confrontation. The victim said she was leaving with her daughter when she dropped her purse. One of the suspects took the purse and fled the scene. The victim said she pushed her daughter to safety and chased the suspect. At one point, she was pushed to the ground, but retrieved her purse when the suspect threw it. The victim then returned to her daughter, who was being taunted by the other two suspects. The suspects fled the area, but were detained by police at Portage Road and Osborne Place, where they were identified by the victim.

• DUI: Frank Castiglione, 73, 632 28th St., was charged at 10:12 p.m. Friday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. Castiglione was parked in a no standing zone at Third and Niagara streets, where he was attempting to talk to pedestrians. Officers initiated a traffic stop and noticed that Castiglione appeared to be intoxicated. He told police he had not been drinking, but said he was taking medication for a back injury. After failing field sobriety tests, Castiglione was arrested. He refused to allow police to take a blood sample.

• DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Lachanel Tamara George, 28, 155 Urban St., Buffalo, was charged at 3:10 a.m. Saturday with disorderly conduct. As police were trying to disperse a group in the 600 block of 19th Street, George continued yelling and screaming. She jumped into a van and opened the door and began screaming again. After refusing numerous requests by officers to leave the area, she was arrested.

• DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Timothy M. Carson, 43, 7217 Stephenson Ave., was charged at 1:40 a.m. Saturday with disorderly conduct after police responded to two calls at a business in the 8700 block of Buffalo Avenue. Police were called for a person causing trouble, yelling at customers and throwing bar stools. The first time, police told Carson to leave the business and not return. The second time they were called, Parson was causing trouble inside the business again. This time he was arrested.

• EXPOSURE: Steven Edward Hilliard, 21, 1628 Niagara Ave., was charged with exposure of a person in a public place. Police said Hilliard was urinating in front of the patrol car in the parking lot at 15th Street and Pine Avenue. During the incident, William E. Brome, 21, 323 71st St., was charged with disorderly conduct. Brome failed to leave the area as Hilliard was being arrested.

City of Lockport

• DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Brett W. Frasier, 33, 120 Ontario St., and Gary L. Hopper, 23, 120 Ontario St., were charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree obstruction of government administration. At 4:05 a.m. Saturday, the patrol responded to Ontario Street for a fight and saw Frasier and Hopper on the ground yelling and punching each other. Hopper was bleeding from the head. The patrol ordered Hopper and Frasier to stop fighting, but they continued. The patrol sprayed both parties and handcuffed the men. Rescue responded due to the laceration on Hopper’s head. It appeared Hopper had trouble breathing and was transported to Eastern Niagara Hospital.
