NIAGARA FALLS

Man reportedly cut in bar fight

Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Party Time Cafe on Lockport Road about 3 a.m. Sunday for a bar fight involving several people.

When deputies arrived, witnesses said a suspect had driven away east on Lockport Road.

A 25-year-old Wyoming Avenue man was inside the bar with a laceration on his head.

The man told deputies two women had been fighting inside the bar, and someone had accused him of hitting someone’s wife, the report said.

The man said an unknown person then hit him in the head, causing a deep, large cut. He was evaluated by an ambulance crew but did not want to be transported to the hospital, the report said.

He was taken to the hospital by a friend for stitches.

No one at the bar could identify the suspect, the report said.



NEWFANE

Relay for Life money reported stolen

Deputies are investigating the theft of a jar of money meant to be donated to the Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society event.

Deputies responded to Tammy Jo’s Cafe on Main Street Friday after an employee reported someone stole a jar from the counter.

A man entered the restaurant, took the can off the counter and left, the report said.

The jar had an unknown amount of money inside. The employee told deputies a Relay for Life representative came to pick up the money every couple weeks.

Deputies checked the area but did not find the suspect, the report said.



TOWN OF LOCKPORT

Girl reports being approached by men in van

Police are investigating a report of a man propositioning a teenage girl as she walked home from school.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Sweetwood Drive on Friday afternoon and met with a woman and her teenage daughter.

The girl told deputies that while she was walking home from Lockport High School on Strauss Road about 10:30 a.m., when a white van occupied by two men pulled up next to her.

She said the driver asked her, “Hey, you want to make 50 bucks?”

When the girl said no, the man replied, “Come on. You know you do.”

The girl said she told the man to get away from her, then began to walk faster, and the van sped away east on Strauss Road.

She described the driver as a white male in his 30s, with messy, dark hair, glasses and a mustache. The passenger was also a white male, the report said.

The van was described as a full-sized white cargo van, with tinted windows and rust around the wheels.



Niagara Falls

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 1600 block of Niagara Street. A 59-year-old man told officers that sometime between 3 and 11 p.m. June 11 someone broke into his home by breaking a window. The victim said three gold rings and $200 in quarters were taken.

• THEFT: Officers are looking into a theft from a Main Street business. A 55-year-old employee told police that he left $4,000 in a black computer bag in his unlocked locker at the business in the 400 block of Main Street. The employee said the money was in the bag when he left work at 4 p.m. Sunday and was missing when he returned to work at 8 a.m. Monday.

• ACCIDENT: A falling OfficeMax sign caused damage to two cars in the 8300 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. A store operations manager told police that a sign on the front of his building fell off at 9:20 a.m. Monday and landed on vehicles that were parked in front. Neither of the cars were seriously damaged.

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 400 block of Eighth Street. A property manager told officers that sometime between 9 a.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Monday someone broke into a home by breaking a basement window. The manager said $3,000 worth of copper pipe was taken from the basement of the hone.

• BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 1600 block of Weston Avenue. A 36-year-old woman told police that sometime between 3 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Monday someone broke into her home through a window. The victim said a digital camera, a lock box containing birth certificates, Social Security cards and $425, a computer, a PlayStation2 game system and a vacuum were taken.

Ransomville

• VANDALISM: A Palmer Road woman reported Saturday that sometime overnight someone knocked her mailbox off its post and carved an expletive into the side of her house. Damage was estimated at $175.

• VANDALISM: A Youngstown-Lockport Road man told deputies Saturday that overnight someone smashed the rear window of his 2000 Dodge Caravan. Damage was estimated at $200.

Wheatfield

• SHOPLIFTING: Brian Anthony Emel, 24, 6022 W. Britton Road, Niagara Falls, was charged Saturday afternoon with petit larceny. Emel tried to steal a Sony DVD player worth about $70 from Sears on Williams Road, police said.

City of Lockport

• DWI: William Sandy, 283 South St., Apt. 2, was charged early Monday with driving while intoxicated, disobeying a stop sign and an open container violation after a 3:12 a.m. traffic stop on Locust Street. Officers reportedly saw Sandy pass through a stop sign at Locust and Pine streets. Sandy allegedly failed several field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was released on his own recognizance.

Town of Lockport

• VANDALISM: A Tonawanda Creek Road man reported Monday morning that sometime between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. Sunday, someone threw a glass bottle through the front window of his apartment. The man said he believed another apartment may have been the target. A neighbor reportedly saw a dark-colored vehicle pull up to the apartment building. A man got out and threw the bottle, the report said. Damage to the window was estimated at $350.

• LARCENY: The owner of Walck Brothers Service on Hinman Road reported Thursday that sometime between May 28 and 29, someone entered one of his dump trucks and damaged the overhead console. The damage was estimated at $1,270.67 and included damage to the satellite radio and CB radio, the report said.

City of Tonawanda

• DRUGS: David L. Forsyth, 26, 217 West Ave., Lockport, was arrested Monday on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, concealing physical evidence, improper plate/registration, failure to keep right, speeding and improper left turn. He was pulled over near the corner of Broad and Delaware streets.

Police say they observed Forsyth reaching around in his car before coming up to the window and noticing a white powder around his mouth. Forsyth admitted to trying to eat several of the Loritab pills allegedly in his car, according to reports. Police collected chemical evidence of the drug after Forsyth spit out some of what was in his mouth, the reports said He was held for court.

Medina

• DWI: Kathleen J. Schwarzmueller, 54, 6372 Hatter Road, Newfane, was charged Tuesday with DWI. Schwarzmueller is due Monday in Medina Village Court.
