BLOTTER: Police reports published June 20

Niagara Gazette

Niagara Falls

- ARREST: Brenda A. Stevens, already an inmate at Niagara County Jail, was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment Thursday after she threatened police and spat on one of the officers. Stevens, 44, 901 Cedar Ave., was being picked up by Falls police for a city court appearance when she became uncooperative and began yelling at officers. She then threatened to hit officers with her leg irons and started striking her head on a Plexiglas window inside the county jailhouse. While being put inside the transport van, Stevens spat on an officer and then started kicking the vehicle’s doors and screaming, police said. She also banged her head against the inside of the van. Stevens suffered two small cuts on the top of her head.

- FIRE: Police are investigating a possible arson Thursday morning on Weston Avenue. A neighbor reported smoke coming from the back of the vacant structure at 1642 Weston Ave. shortly after 5 a.m. Investigators said there were multiple points of origin with an odor of flammable liquid. A damage estimate was not available.

- ATTEMPTED LARCENY: A Weston Avenue man told police he caught two men trying to steal aluminum gutters from his garage Thursday afternoon. The man said he was inside the garage at 3:45 p.m. and heard noises coming from the roof. He then caught one of the men trying to rip down the gutters. The two suspects fled the area, but were later picked up by police and identified. The homeowner declined to press charges.

City of Lockport

- BURGLARY: Charles D. McMillan, 38, 3637 Ransomville Road, Apt. 2, Ransomville, was charged Wednesday morning with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal contempt. McMillan is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s Erie Street apartment June 10 by climbing a ladder and entering through a window. The woman told police she woke up to find McMillan kneeling next to her bed. When she told him to leave, he went out the back door. The woman has an order of protection against McMillan. He was held without bail.

- HARASSMENT: Toni B. Crenshaw, 16, 287 South St., Apt. 3, was charged Wednesday with second-degree harassment. Crenshaw is accused of yelling obscenities and pushing a woman in her apartment building. She also threatened to kill the woman, police said.

Newfane

- LARCENY: A North Chili man reported Tuesday that overnight, someone stole 500 pounds of brass valves that were stored in an apple bin on his property on Ketchum Avenue. A chain had been cut on the fence around the property, the report said. The brass valves are worth about $935.
