Jail stay adds more charges for Falls man
A Niagara Falls man faces a litany of charges during his stay in the new city jail.
Michael P. Raymond, 25, 343 77th St., was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts of aggravated harassment of an employee and obstructing governmental administration.
At 8 a.m. Saturday, officers said Raymond pulled a light cover off in the holding cell. The cover and light were damaged.
Around 8:45 a.m., Raymond refused to enter his cell. Officers heard continual running water and the toilet flushing. They observed Raymond stuffing objects in the toilet, causing it to overflow. As officers attempted to move Raymond to a new cell, he said, “I’ll (expletive) flood this cell, too.” Officers couldn’t stop the running water in the first cell and urine, feces and water flooded the cell and the hallway.
Around 9 a.m., officers tried to stop Raymond when he tied a shirt around his neck. According to police reports, Raymond raised a hand to strike officers. The officer tried to hit Raymond in the chest, but Raymond fell on a bench, cutting his eye. Raymond refused medical treatment for the cut to his eye.
