LEWISTON
Hypodermic needles found near Bond Lake
Several hypodermic needles were found Sunday alongside Bond Lake.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the lake Sunday afternoon after a Niagara County parks department employee reported finding the needles.
The man said he picked up the needles using a set of pliers and secured them in a plastic bag.
Deputies also found a measuring spoon and a small glassine envelope nearby, the report said.
HARTLAND
EMT accused of stealing money from patient
A Rural Metro EMT accused of stealing money from an accident victim is under investigation for another reported incident.
Anthony Murphy was charged last month with one count of petit larceny. He was accused of stealing from a patient at the scene of an April 28 accident at Stone and Purdy roads involving a Lockport man.
Murphy removed an undetermined amount of money from the victim while giving him emergency medical care, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
On Thursday, a woman told deputies that while she was being treated by EMTs at an accident scene, $55 was taken from her purse.
The woman was involved in an accident June 1 on Ridge Road in Hartland, the report said. A witness said they saw Murphy going through the woman’s purse while she was on a stretcher.
Murphy is currently on suspension from his duties at Rural Metro.
Niagara Falls
• THEFT: Police are investigating a theft from a construction site in the 4200 block of Pine Avenue. A project manager told officers that sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday someone broke into a trailer box by smashing the locks. The supervisor said more than $2,000 worth of construction materials were taken.
• ASSAULT: Officers are looking into an assault in the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue. An 18-year-old man told police he was walking in the area when he was approached by a suspect asking for money. When he told the man he didn’t have any, the suspect slashed him in the chest with a box cutter.
Wilson
• DWI: Laura A. Greig, 41, of Wilson, was charged Sunday evening with driving while intoxicated, making an improper left turn and a seat belt violation after a 7:39 p.m. traffic stop on Catherine Street. Greig was released on an appearance ticket.
Wheatfield
• DWI: Lee M. Gorcheck, 38, 153 Cramer St., North Tonawanda, was charged early Monday with DWI, driving in violation of a conditional license, unsafe movement of a stopped motor vehicle and driving on the shoulder of a controlled access highway. Deputies on patrol stopped Gorcheck’s car after seeing the vehicle do a “burn out” while leaving the parking lot of a bar on Niagara Falls Boulevard about 12:45 a.m. Gorcheck failed several field sobriety tests and told deputies he had been arrested for DWI six weeks ago. Gorcheck refused to take a chemical test for blood alcohol content level.
North Tonawanda
• WARRANT: Erik M. Kick, 49, 128 Eighth Ave., was turned over by Niagara Falls police on a warrant for petit larceny. He was held for court.
• BURGLARY: Shanise E. Williams, 21, 46 Trenton Road, Fishkill, N.Y., was arrested Sunday morning for second-degree harassment, second-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief. She was held for court.
• DWI: Jessica S. Holt, 23, 12 Bouck St., City of Tonawanda, was arrested Sunday morning for DWI and failure to keep right on Oliver Street. Her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.13 percent. She is being held in lieu of $250 bail.
Town of Lockport
• LARCENY: A Hinman Road man reported Sunday that sometime since June 1, someone stole three aluminum wheel rims, together worth about $150, from his yard.
