POLICE REPORTS: May 31, 2009

Niagara Falls

• DWI: Rashekeh D. Hilson, 32, 1803 16th St., A-2, was charged at 3:01 a.m. Saturday with DWI, passing a red traffic signal and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Officers, who were stopped at Pine Avenue and Main Street, saw Hilson drive through a red light. She was pulled over at Main and Park Place, where officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and glassy eyes. Hilson told police she wasn’t drinking. During field sobriety tests, Hilson told officers, “This is stupid, I’m a nurse, so why do I have to do this?” Hilson registered a 0.15 percent blood alcohol content during a breath test at police headquarters. Officers found a water bottle filled with a pink liquid that smelled of alcohol in the vehicle. The bottle was almost empty. Officers also found a passenger who was passed out in the back seat. Police called an ambulance and the passenger, who appeared to be highly intoxicated and could not be woken up, was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

• DWI: Cherilyn D. Evert, 39, 3530 Ferry Ave., was charged with DWI and improper lane use at 2:51 a.m. Friday. Police, who were responding to another call, saw a SUV swerving on Cudaback Avenue. Officers were looking for the SUV after the call and saw Evert exiting the vehicle and walked to the north sidewalk. She told police she wasn’t driving, although officers saw her behind the wheel and she was standing with the keys to the car in the hand, according to reports. Officers detected the odor of alcoholic beverage, slurred speech, red glassy eyes and impaired motor coordination. She refused to take field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At police headquarters, Evert said she would take a breath test but failed to give a proper sample after three attempts. She was then given a refusal.

• PETIT LARCENY: A resident in the 1100 block of Maple Avenue told police that between 11 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Saturday someone entered his parked car and took his briefcase. The briefcase was found in his neighbor’s lawn, but the victim’s work camera was missing. The value of the camera is $150.

• PETIT LARCENY: At 1:16 p.m. Saturday, a resident in the 1000 block of Fairfield Avenue told police someone removed the vehicle registration card and vehicle manual from her car. The estimated value of the items is $30.

• RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: Lashawn C. Jackson, 38, and Lusher B. Wallace, 40, both of 2739 Niagara St., Apt 2., were each charged late Friday with reckless endangerment. Officers saw a car stopped during a heavy rain in the 4700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard at the bottom of the 56th Street bridge. Wallace, who was the passenger, encouraged Jackson to stop and exit the vehicle during an argument. Their actions caused an accident, according to reports. Jackson was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

• PETIT LARCENY: Aimee L. Fotus, 23, 4800 Garlow Road, was charged at 11:10 p.m. Friday with petit larceny. A manager at a grocery story in the 1000 block of Portage Road saw Fotus take multiple food and beauty products, along with a knife and shoelaces without pay for the items, which were valued at $73.32.

• BURGLARY: A resident in the 1800 block of Jerauld Avenue came home Friday afternoon to find his back door kicked open. The only thing missing was an iPod. The incident occurred between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The victim told police this is the third time in the past six months the residence has been burglarized.

• BURGLARY: A resident in the 500 block of 24th Street told police at 6:44 p.m. Friday that someone took an Xbox and a Playstation from the residence by forcing open a rear window.

• DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Sarah Elizabeth Dauost, 30, 520 87th St., was charged with disorderly conduct and no seatbelt at 11:30 p.m. Friday. Officers at 19th and Niagara streets saw the passenger in a vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt. They stopped the vehicle at Niagara Street and Portage Road. Reports said Dauost became very agitated and refused to answer the officer’s questions. After several minutes, Dauost told police, “Hurry the (expletive) up, you’re wasting my time.” The driver of the vehicle was not ticketed.
