BLOTTER: Police reports published May 12

Niagara Gazette

Brawls break out on Third Street

Falls police used pepper spray to control several brawls that broke out in the Third Street entertainment district early Sunday morning.

Four people were arrested after incidents involving patrons at Club New York, Braggs Tavern and Uncs Tavern.

At one point, outnumbered officers said partiers began throwing bottles at them.

Around 1 a.m., officers arrested Floyd C. Crittenden, 25, 13 F Packard Court, and charged him with third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Officers said a woman told them that she and Crittenden had argued in Club New York and then went outside. The woman said Crittenden attacked her by choking her and punching her in the head and then broke her cell phone.

Crittenden ran from police, but was caught in the alley by Uncs Tavern.

As the bars approached closing time, between 2:45 and 3:15 a.m., officers said trouble erupted at both Club New York and Braggs.

Rhoshe Lamelle Jackson, 25, 609 18th St., was charged with disorderly conduct after he was involved in a fight outside Club New York. A short time later, police took William G. Carter, 27,421 Rainbow Blvd., into custody outside the nightclub in the 500 block of Third Street and charged him with disorderly conduct.

Carter had been told to leave the area after the earlier fight and then returned and created a disturbance.

Police also arrested Tavar Say-Quan Anderson, 23, 436 Seventh St. Apt. 1-2, and charged him with disorderly conduct. Officers said Anderson was involved in a fight in front of Braggs Tavern, in the 200 block of Ferry Avenue, and refused to leave the area.

During the bottle throwing, police said the windshield of a car being used by former Niagara Falls High School and now Syracuse University basketball star Jonny Flynn was smashed. The car was parked outside of Braggs at the time of the incident.

There was no indication from police of whether Flynn, who is only 19, was in the bars or involved in any of the melees.
