Family reports $23K stolen from home
Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an apparent break-in at a Hinman Road home.
A resident called 911 Wednesday evening and said she’d returned home to find someone had broken in and taken $23,000 in cash, which had been stored in a Sentry safe, and two wooden cigar boxes, inside a file cabinet.
The file cabinet was locked, but the suspect was able to get it open, the report said.
Nothing else was reported stolen.

The man said he went to Wal-Mart to take out a money order, but the Wal-Mart staff convinced him not to. Gordon later called back and began lowering the processing fees, first to $3,500 and $2,700, but the man refused and told Gordon to stop calling.
