ERIE COUNTY

Teen treated after police chase

State police say a Lockport teen was treated at Erie County Medical Center after she cut her own throat with a razor during a chase on Transit Road.

Troopers Jennifer Post and Daniel Schneeberger were on patrol headed south on Transit Road in Amherst when a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by a 17-year-old Lockport girl, passed them at a high rate of speed, the report said.

The troopers attempted to stop the car, but the teen began driving faster, prompting a chase on Transit south into Elma. Her car crossed over into the northbound lane, striking a vehicle.

The teen continued driving south on Transit Road and finally came to rest in a field.

When the troopers approached the car, they saw the girl had cut her throat with a razor blade. She was transported by Rural Metro Ambulance to ECMC, where she will undergo a psychiatric evaluation, the report said.

The teen was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and numerous vehicle and traffic tickets.



Niagara Falls

• BURGLARY: Police are investigating a burglary in the 1000 block of Niagara Avenue. A 49-year-old woman told officers that sometime between 9 a.m. and noon Thursday someone broke into her home by forcing open a door. The victim said a strong box containing $650 along with some prescription medications were taken.,

• BURGLARY: Officers are looking into a burglary in the 2800 block of McKoon Avenue. A 43-year-old woman told police that sometime between noon Monday and 11:32 a.m. Thursday someone broke into her home by prying open a rear door. The victim said a 50-inch plasma TV, a computer, a safe, some jewelry and prescription medication was taken.

Sanborn

• DRUGS: William John Cole, 17, 6629 Hake Road, Akron, was charged Tuesday with criminal possession of a controlled substance. The principal of Niagara Academy on Saunders Settlement Road told deputies Cole was caught with a muscle relaxant pill at school. Another student admitted taking two of the pills and was taken to the hospital by Tri-Community Ambulance. Cole was released on an appearance ticket and is due May 13 in Cambria Town Court.

• FIGHT: Joshua Lee Kinney, 17, 916 Orient St., Medina, and Eric Edward McCall, 17, 311 West Ave., Medina, were each charged Thursday with disorderly conduct. Police say Kinney and McCall fought with each other at Niagara Academy on Saunders Settlement Road. Several faculty members jumped in and separated the teens, and one faculty member was treated by the school nurse for an injury to his right hand. Kinney and McCall were issued appearance tickets and suspended from school, the report said.

• ID THEFT: A Hartland Road man reported Thursday that he and his wife returned home from vacation April 20, they found a phone message from an Expedia representative trying to confirm if they had purchased $16,000 worth of airline tickets. Expedia reportedly put the purchase on the man’s American Express card after they were unable to contact him. The man said he had not purchased any airline tickets, and American Express informed him he would not be held liable for the purchase.
