PET OF THE WEEK: March 15, 2009

#907: Short Hair, Neutered Male, 6 Years, Fidget.

Surrendered due to the family's son left the home 8 months ago and his parents could no longer care for the cat. He is a large cat, weighing in at 12 pounds!! He is reported to be used to dogs. No vet history turned in by previous family. He will need some assistance with grooming near his back end and tail for he is so large he has difficulty reaching these areas. He does shed quite a bit, especially now when he is nervous being in this new environment. When he arrived his upper molars were infected and they have a lot of tartar on them. He was given antibiotics to treat the infection but his new family needs to be aware that he will need a professional dental cleaning in the near future. He has a large "pooch" and could benefit from some diet food and some exercise (possibly a laser pointer will get him up and moving). Very nice boy. 3/11/09: He has become accustomed to his surroundings now and he really is a very sweet cat. Loves to be petted and to spend time on the kitty play gym.
