GUEST VIEW: Veteran grades recent Niagara-Wheatfield school board meeting

(Continued)

Niagara Gazette — Communication: F. Some members of the school board were aware of the new law but for whatever reasons did not communicate the new law to other members of the board. As I said to the board, my mother always told me growing up, “Ignorance of the law is no excuse.”

I am not a spokesman for any veterans agency or group. I am a veteran, and I do have a vested interest in the new law, having my taxes lowered. I attended the Niagara-Wheatfield school board meeting to pass on information to the board about the law. I am ashamed as a veteran and a member of the school district that the board tabled the resolution. Today, I drove by the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. I saluted the American flag, looked into the air and said, “Forgive them God (school board), for they know not what they do.”

I encourage all veterans in the Niagara-Wheatfield School District to attend the next school board meeting at 7 p.m. March 5 at the Adult Learning Center located on the right side of the high school. Let’s honor those veterans who cannot attend.
