Kenneth F. Kumm, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Facility. He was 79. He was born in Niagara Falls on February 2, 1935, a son of the late William K. and Winifred (Burridge) Kumm.
He attended local schools and then entered the United States Air Force in 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1956, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked as a millwright at Carborundum for 40 years until his retirement. He married Lois Jane Howard in 1969, and they remained happily married until her passing in 2012. He was a lifetime member of Frontier Fire Hall.
Mr. Kumm is survived by his step-son, John M. (Pamela) Conroy of the Town of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Sean and Devin Conroy and Amanda (Edoardo) Fioramonte; his great-grandson, Dylan LeBlanc and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to a memorial service at Frontier Fire Hall, 2176 Liberty Drive, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 10:30 AM, with a luncheon to follow at 11 AM, at the fire hall.
