Harley Ivan Webber died Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in Piercefield, NY on July 10, 1928, the son of the late Clinton and Helen (McSween) Webber. He attended local schools and served in both the Navy and Marine Corps during World War II. He married the former Joan Jackson on September 22, 1951, and were married for 50 years.
After his military service, Mr. Webber began his employment career with the former International Paper Company and former Simon Oil Company. In the early 1960s, he began his lifelong career in the Automobile Retail Industry. He began in the sales area and later held the Sales Manager position at many of the local auto dealerships in Western New York, and finally the owner/operator of Webber Auto Sales on Military Road in the Town of Niagara.
He was a lifelong member of St. John de LaSalle R.C. Church, enjoyed the love of the outdoors, was an avid hunter and longtime Duke University basketball fan.
He leaves behind four daughters, Christine W. Rooney, Linda (Darryl) Webber, Patricia (Kenneth) Skryp and Maureen Bennett; and a son, Jeffrey Harley Webber; 11 grandchildren, Stacey Leonard, Donald Harley Leonard, Gretchen Bergeron, Chelsey Wielgus, Coreen Hamilton, Morgan Hamilton, Sandra (Aaron) Besecker, Jillian Skryp, Sarah Bennett, Mark Harley Bennett and Nathan Owen Webber; six great-grandchildren, Derico, Kaitlyn, Carley, Emma, DeShawn and Scott; his brothers, Roland (Joan) Webber and Colyn Webber; a sister, Neila Webber Smith; friend, Louis Caterina and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Webber was predeceased by his sisters, Rosalyn Butler and Jocelyn Woodcock; and a great-granddaughter, Shadeia; and his lifelong friend, Frank Amendola.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass at 10:00 AM on JULY 10TH, 2013 in St. John de LaSalle R.C. Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC.
