BUFFALO — George R. Bennett, 76, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest, unexpectedly, on Sunday,     December 9, 2012 in Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born on August 8, 1936 in Luzerne, PA, he was the son of the late Russell J. and Nellie K. (Tuit) Bennett.

Mr. Bennett attended schools in Pennsylvania and came to Niagara Falls, NY in the early 1950s.  George worked as a machinist for Union Carbide, until he retired, upon their closing. He later worked for Carbo-Sil in Niagara Falls, NY. On July 10, 1973, Mr. Bennett married the former Ethel Marie Turner. She predeceased him on March 24, 2008. George was known for always looking out for others before himself. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, Mr. Bennett loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Bennett is survived by seven children, Deborah (Stanley) Prater of Niagara Falls, NY; Ronald Bennett of Niagara Falls, NY; Russell Bennett of Utah; Dawne Emmens of Lyndonville, NY; Kim (Paul) Marion of Niagara Falls, NY; Erich (Tina) Carson of Niagara Falls, NY; and Rebecca (Darron) Bennett of Niagara Falls, NY; and was predeceased by one infant son, Russell Bennett.  George is also survived by 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, June (late John) Robinson of Pennsylvania and Bonnie       Bennett of Pennsylvania; two brothers, James (Claudia) Bennett of North Tonawanda, NY and Earl (late Moe) Bennett of Utah; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, wife and son, he was also predeceased by one brother, Thomas (Bonnie of New Jersey) Bennett.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Chapel of the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 13th, at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Pat Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
