TOWN OF NIAGARA —

Robert G. Woodcock, 85, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away, peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013, with his loving family by his side, after a brief illness. Born on April 24, 1927, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late James and Mabel (Brown) Woodcock.
Bob, as he was known by family and friends, attended local schools and was a lifetime resident of Niagara Falls and the Town of Niagara. On August 19, 1950, he married the former Florence Sarazen, who predeceased him in December 2010. He served in the United States Army from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1947. As a young man, Bob worked for Simon Oil as a truck driver, and then continued driving tanker trucks for Texaco Oil until their closing. He worked for Noco Energy until his retirement. He continued working part time for Rides Unlimited, driving bus for disabled clients. Throughout his adult life, Bob owned and operated a small engine repair shop from his home. He had a knack for repairing and tuning engines, just one of the many skills Bob was known for. He was an excellent carpenter, plumber, electrician, and mechanic. Bob was truly a "jack of all trades" whose greatest satisfaction came from helping others.
Bob's busy life centered on his love for family dinners, holidays and celebrations. He enjoyed socializing with his friends during his daily walks at the Prime Outlet Mall, and as president of the Mount Carmel Senior Group. He looked forward to the time he spent at the family cottage in Canada. Bob was the loving caregiver to his wife during her illness for many years.
Bob is survived by five children, Gail (Kent) Percival of Buckeye, AZ, Kevin (Pamela) Woodcock of Greece, NY, Cheryl (William) Lutey of Niagara Falls, NY, Robert (Sally Plunkett) Woodcock of Wheatfield, NY, and Renee (Brian) Peunic of Lewiston, NY. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Kara Ceccato (Jamie Cornelia), Kevin Woodcock (Mario Brown), William, Cassandra, and Lauren Lutey, Nikolas and Jenna Woodcock, and Alan, Natalie, and Nicole Peunic; and great-grandchild, Tyler Ceccato. He is survived by one brother, Harold (Elaine) Woodcock; and a several nieces, nephews, cousins; and dear friends, including the LaGreca Family, and Lillian Travis. In addition to his wife of 60 years and his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, James, William (late Josephine) and Howard (late Shirley) Woodcock; and granddaughter, Chantel Panepinto-Woodcock.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, January 28th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls.
