Martha E. "Mae" Cooley


Martha E. "Mae" Cooley, 97, of Torrington, widow of Eugene Cooley, passed peacefully on Monday (January 14, 2013) at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center. Martha was born in Ardrossan, Scotland on January 1, 1916, and was the daughter of the late William and Robina (Linton) Greer.
She was a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, NY, where she worked for Social Services for the State of New York as a Group Supervisor, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a former member of the Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church. Her enjoyment in life included golf and bowling.
Martha is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sabina Anne Cooley of Summerfield, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert LaChase of Bristol, CT; two granddaughters, Aimee Weems and her husband, Anthony, and Kimberly Kehoe and her husband, Frank; three great-grandchildren, A.J. and Alex Weems and Logan Sloane Kehoe; her nieces, Deborah, Martha, and Carol; and extended family. The family thanks the staff and caregivers of Litchfield Woods Health Care for their kind care of Mae.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday (January 19, 2013) at 12 Noon at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Niagara Falls Memorial Park and Cemetery, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
