Duane L. Jordan

LEWISTON — Duane L. Jordan, 90 years old, of Lewiston, NY, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born on February 25, 1922 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Harry S. and Olga (Luck) Jordan. On September 21, 1946, Duane married Shirley (Kemp) Jordan. Shirley                 predeceased Duane on December 24, 2012. The couple recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in September.

Duane enjoyed a long life. He served in the United States Navy, during World War II, as a United States Navy Seabee, from November 29, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on December 29, 1945. Duane worked as an electrician for IBEW Local #237 beginning in January 1946, until his retirement in 1985. He was a 66-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Duane was affiliated with the Lewiston Loyal Order of Moose and the Niagara Frontier Lodge #132 of F&AM. He was also an active member of the Democratic Party for many years. Duane served the Lewiston community in many capacities. He was a member of the Lewiston Lighting Committee for many years and he was   always by his son's side assisting with the many festivals that Lewiston offers, including the Peach Festival for the past 26 years. One of his favorite past times was hanging out with his friends at the local garage drinking coffee and remembering the "good old days."

Duane is survived by three children, David (Barbara) Jordan of Nokomis, FL, Jeffrey (Sandra) Jordan of Lewiston, NY, and Michele (David) D'Avolio of Lewiston, NY, and was predeceased by one son, Scott Jordan. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Justin (Jocelyn) Jordan of Nokomis, FL, Kathryn (Sean) Reinhardt of Penfield, NY, Ashley (Jack) Stonebraker of Niagara Falls, NY, and Lindsey D'Avolio of Lewiston, NY; and five great-grandchildren, Noah and Juliet Reinhardt, Maxum Stonebraker and Taber and Wyatt Jordan. Additionally, Duane is survived by one sister, Joy Jordan Fairchild of Lighthouse Point, FL. In addition to his parents, wife and son, he was predeceased by one brother, Lloyd Jordan.

There will be no prior visitation. A private memorial service and burial will be held at the     discretion of the family in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Arrangements were entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007).
