Anthony J. Diodate

NIAGARA FALLS — Anthony J. Diodate, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. He was born on August 24, 1921, in Buffalo, NY, the son of  the late Frank and Anna (Alvaro) Diodate.

Mr. Diodate attended South Park High School in Buffalo and served  in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He enlisted in the US Army on December 4, 1942 and  served in  the European Theater under General Patton's 3rd Army during World War II, as a Communication Sergeant with the 998th Treadway Bridge Co. He was awarded 5 Battle Stars (Bronze) for participating in Battles of Normandy, Cherbourgh, Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge and The Rhineland in Germany. Mr. Diodate  was employed at Bethlehem Steel, Lackawanna, NY, for 6 years, Carborundum for 1 year and with Union Carbide Corp., for 35-1/2 years before retiring in 1984. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching sports on TV, as well as gardening and carpentry. Mr. Diodate was a member of the Duke Senior Citizen Center and the Union Carbide Social Club for 25 years.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 66 years, Agnes L. (Multeri) Diodate; three sons, James (Karen) Diodate of Lewiston, NY, Dennis (Carol Anne) Diodate and Frank (Brigette) Diodate, both of San Jose, CA; daughter, Denise (Michael) Richardson of San Jose, CA; nine grandchildren, Kara, Mark, Michelle, Rosie, Antonia Diodate, Kyle (Kendra), Layna and Shawna Richardson and Janelle King; one great-grandson, Nathan Diodate. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Josephine (late Neil) King and the brother of the late James, Carmen and Joseph Diodate, Rose Lucchino and Frances Halas.

The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue,              NIAGARA FALLS, NY, on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:15 AM, followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 12:00 PM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Stewart Lindsey, OSF, officiating. Flowers are gratefully   declined. Memorials may be made in his name to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or to Olmstead Center for Sight, 1170 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14209. Entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
