NIAGARA FALLS —  

Mary H. (Yandian) Biro, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in Mount Saint Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY, following a brief illness. Born on July 3, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helene (Yandian) Yandian.
Mrs. Biro attended local schools and graduated from both Niagara Falls High School and the Former Trott Vocational High School. On February 14, 1969, Mary married Kenneth J. Biro in the Town of Niagara, NY. He predeceased her in August of 2003.  She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Fairchild Nursing Home for eight years, then at Mount Dora Health Care Facility in Mount Dora, FL, for nine years and lastly at Riverwood Health Care Facility on Grand Island for five years. Mrs. Biro retired from nursing in 1993. Mary attended St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Niagara Falls, NY. She was extremely proud of her Armenian Heritage. Mrs. Biro loved her dog, Aslam. Mary enjoyed reading and puzzles. Above all she loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Biro is survived by one daughter, Julie (John) Gordon of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren, David (Laurey) Taylor of Tonawanda, NY and Suzan (Christopher) Wren of Baltimore, MD; four great-grandchildren, Payton and Jayden Taylor and Victoria and Aaron Wren; one brother, Michael Yandian of California; and three sisters, Lucy Alterio of Wheatfield, NY, Rose Poliachik of Buffalo, NY and Barbara (Clair Bastian) Yandian of Ransomville, NY. Mary is also survived by her step-children, William (Marilyn) Biro of the Town of Niagara, NY, Gerald Biro of Niagara Falls, NY, Paul Biro of Niagara Falls, NY, Steven (Carol) Biro of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and Nancy (Donald) Kay of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; and many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents; and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Paul Yandian; one sister, Alice Yandian; and step-children, Walter "Guy" (Donna of the Town of Niagara, NY) Biro, Mary Bobbitt and Delores Biro.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in the Chapel of the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 27th at 10:00 AM. Private interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission, 1023 Ferry Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
