NIAGARA FALLS —
Florence I. (Casper) Hazel, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 in Arizona under the loving care of her daughter Patricia and East Valley Hospice. She was 93. She was born in Bellefonte, PA on August 26, 1919, a daughter of the late David E. and Sadie (Rider) Casper.
She moved to Niagara Falls in 1940 and worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education for seven years and then in the cafeteria at Hooker Chemical Company for 24 years until her retirement in 1980. She married the Reverend Harry F. Hazel on October 25, 1938 and they remained happily married for 66 years until his passing in 2004. Mrs. Hazel was a longtime member of the Cataract City Church of the Nazarene and most recently a member of Forestview Church of God. She was also a member of the Hooker Chemical Retirees Club, and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by her two children, Patricia (Paul) Gilmore of Mesa, Arizona, and Warren (Nancy) Hazel of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Rollis of Florida; fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, David (Norma) Hazel; brothers, David, Russell, George, Frank, and Frederick Casper; and sisters, Clayre Singley, Sarah Bachman, Margaret Young, Mary Sunday, and Mabel Wolfgang.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Ave. on Sunday from 3-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday at the Forestview Church of God, 1250 Saunders Settlement, Niagara Falls, NY 14305. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Valley Hospice, 1311 W.
