Carmela Cristiano

NIAGARA FALLS —  

Carmela (nee Viscomi) Cristiano, age 103, of the Niagara Tower, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2012 in Our Lady of Peace Health Care Center, after a brief illness. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on February 2, 1909 to the late Adeline (nee LaBernardo) and Alfonso Viscomi. On July 16, 1932 the former Carmela Viscomi married Joseph Cristiano in St. Josephs Church. He passed away August 21, 1967.
For many years Mrs. Cristiano worked in the laundry in Mount St. Mary's Hospital retiring in the late 1970's. Mrs. Cristiano was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and making afghans.
She is survived by her son, Anthony G. (Elizabeth) Cristiano of Rocky River, OH; two sisters, Margaret Iusi and Lucy Ruggiero, both of Niagara Falls, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by seven siblings, the late Giovanna "Jennie" Muto, late Joseph Viscomi, late Angeline Cirrito, late Josephine Ross, late Ralph Viscomi, late Connie DiPasquale, late Dominic Viscomi.
Friends are invited to attend a Committal Service on Saturday morning at 11:15 AM at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. If desired, memorials may be made in Mrs. Cristiano's memory to Sacred Heart Villa School, 5269 Lewiston Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092.
