Eleanor Barrette

NIAGARA FALLS — Eleanor (nee Born) Barrette, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Niagara Falls, NY, following a brief illness. Born on January 5, 1918 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Victoria (Nachek) Born.

Mrs. Barrette came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family. Eleanor attended local schools and graduated from the former St. Mary's High School. In 1940, she married Donald F. Barrette. He predeceased her on March 30, 2002.  Mrs. Barrette was an avid sports fan and bowler.  Above all, Eleanor loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Barrette is survived by four sons, Gary (LuAnne) Barrette of West Palm Beach, FL, Robert (Carolyn) Barrette of Wintergreen, VA, David Barrette of Niagara Falls, NY, and Donald J. (Lori) Barrette of Fairport, NY; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was predeceased by one sister, Florence Zakia and one brother, A. Robert Born.

The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 17th at 10:00 AM, which will be celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 3840 Macklem Avenue (at College) Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic serving as celebrant. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY.
