NIAGARA FALLS — Shirley Ann Evans, age 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, was called to her heavenly home on September 8, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Niagara Hospice, after a year and a half battling Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 3, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Glasnip) Whitcomb. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother, and an excellent grandmother. She never gave up on anything or anyone. Shirley was a true supporter for her family and always cared more about everyone else then herself. She was a believer that all things worked out for a reason, and God has plans for each of us.  Hobbies and interests included crocheting, sewing, baking, and was very passionate about gardening, and loved shopping for all her grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, William (Al) Evans. They were united in marriage on July 23, 1960; four children, Sheila Ann Evans of Houston, TX, Glenn Albert Evans of Katy, TX, Sherri Ann (Jerry) Batterson of Lenexa, KS, and Gregory Allen Evans of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Adam and Evan Lippert, Matthew and Sarah Batterson, Christina, Shaun and Gregory Evans, Jr., Scott and Reshma Evans, Jeanine Evans Bennett, Andrew Evans and fiance' Christine, Jonathan and Stacy Evans; seven great-grand-     children; five sisters, Linda Whitcomb, Barbara McFarland, Charlene (Duane) Clive, Dorothy Schiro, Nancy (Herbie) Schineback;  two brothers, Richard and Norman Whitcomb. Predeceased by a sister, Marsha; two brothers, Donny and Bobby Whitcomb; and brother-in-law, Terry McFarland.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz), in Wheatfield on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.  Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael A. Keicher on Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice.
