Thomas John Dean

Thomas John Dean, of Niagara Falls, NY, formerly of Newfane, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 2, 2013, in Brooks Memorial Hospital. He was born in Amherst, NY, on October 25, 1992, the son of Susan M. (Ward) Dean of Niagara Falls, NY and Rory J. Dean of Newfane, NY.
Thom was a wonderful young man with an old soul who lived on his own terms. He was pursuing his dream of becoming a great writer and was in his senior year at SUNY Fredonia. Thom had a tight knit group of friends during his high school years and used his unique personality to become known by all at Fredonia. He truly loved his Fredonia family and all of his experiences there.
Thom was a great writer, gamer and Magic card player, and he also loved football and enjoyed playing for the New-Wil-Ran Football organization for many years. One of Thom's and his family's proudest moments was when he was awarded the "Heart of the Team" Medal for his outstanding leadership skills. Thom's other interests included studying World War II history, being in the outdoors and working with his father in the garage.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Katherine R. Dean; and also many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear Godmother, Jean. He was the grandson of the late Thomas and Joan Ward, John and Josephine Dean.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Thom's honor on Wednesday, November 6th at the Cornell Cooperative Ext., 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport, NY, at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations will gratefully be accepted to the Thomas Dean Fund c/o Fredonia College Foundation, SUNY Fredonia 14063.
Thom was taken from us far too soon, but his spirit and love will be with us always. Rest in peace our dearest Thom. Arrangements were made through the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Sanborn, NY.
