Eugene L. Corsaro, Sr.

TOWN OF NIAGARA —

Eugene L. Corsaro, Sr., 80, of Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. He was the son of the late Anthony and Laura (Scufari) Corsaro. Eugene was born in Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from October 6, 1952 until his honorable discharge as a Corporal on October 5, 1955. He later served in the United States Army Reserves and retired on April 26, 1993, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Eugene worked for NYNEX / New York Telephone, in Niagara Falls from where he retired as a manager after 35 years of service. He later worked as a tax preparer for Jackson-Hewitt in Niagara Falls. During the 1980 Olympics, he was proud to be a driver of the van that carried the Olympic torch. He was a former member of the LaSalle Yacht Club and Niagara River Yacht Club. Eugene enjoyed going to the casino, but most importantly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Corsaro is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Rodie) Corsaro; five children, Anthony (Carol) Corsaro of Newfane, NY, Michael (Juliana) Corsaro, Sandra Corsaro, both of Niagara Falls, NY, Amber (Raymond) Herstek of North Tonawanda, NY and Eugene Corsaro, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four sisters Grace "Betty" Witjes of Niagara Falls, NY, Nancy (Ralph) Orsi of Wheatfield, NY, Theresa Volante of Niagara Falls, NY, Antoinette Benton of Lewiston, NY; and many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Zorro. Eugene was predeceased by his sister, Carolanne Penque.
There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northeast Kidney Foundation, 110 Broadway St., Buffalo, NY 14203 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
