Keith S. Shaw

NORTH TONAWANDA — Keith S. Shaw, 94, of North Tonawanda, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Northgate Health Care Facility, after a brief illness. He was born August 3, 1919 in Surveyor, PA, the son of James and Carrie (Edwards) Shaw.

A loving and devoted family man, his wife, M. Jean (Chittenden) Shaw predeceased him on June 13, 2013. They were married for 58 years.

He was a very faithful Christian and was a member of the LaSalle Church of Christ for many years. He served as a deacon and elder for several years.

Mr. Shaw served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII from 1942-1945, (Corporal) with   honorable discharge. He served in the China Burma India Theater. He was awarded with     Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with 3 Bronze Stars, American         Campaign and Good Conduct Medals.

He worked in the coal mines in Pennsylvania and Union Carbide (National Plant) as a furnace controller, and after 40 years he retired. Mr. Shaw enjoyed hunting, baseball, gardening and reading.

He is survived by three daughters, Marcia (Shaw) Wyatt of Sanborn, Leslie (Shaw) Wilmot of North Tonawanda, and Pamela (Shaw) Schnell of North Tonawanda; five grandchildren, Alyssa Hepburn, Haylei and Thomas Wilmot, Jordan and Austin Schnell; two brothers and three sisters, Helen Mellott, Dean Shaw, Bernice Collins, Hugh Shaw and Agnes Vanderburgh; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by three brothers, Guy, Rex and Lee Shaw.

Honoring Mr. Shaw's wishes, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held in Clearfield, PA on October 12, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to LaSalle Church of Christ, 1121 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304; or the Alzheimer's Association, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221. Arrangements are being handled by the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., Niagara Falls.
