Terry Ray Kirkland, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Friday, November 29, 2013 at home. He was 82. He was born in Andalusia, AL on December 24, 1930, the son of Felder Adison and Myrtice (Gunter) Kirkland. Terry was raised in Red Level, AL on a farm, coming to Niagara Falls in December of 1946, stepping off the train with his mother when he was 17 years old at the Buffalo train station. He said it was the coldest day of his life.
On December 19, 1949, he married Teresa Rannalli, and together they celebrated 30 years of marriage. She died on August 28, 1980. Terry worked at Union Carbide, Cataract Fruit and then for UHL, Hall & Rich which was one of the companies that built the New York Power Authority. At first he was a line driller and then later he drove the big 25 ton Euclid rock trucks. After that he joined Teamsters Local 449 in 1968 and drove truck for Yarussi Construction until he retired in 1995. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader for many years, which he enjoyed very much. He also liked racing stock cars and mechanical work. Following his retirement, he enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping and watching old cowboy movies.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Patricia Quinn) Kirkland, Dennis (Linda Cruse) Kirkland, Thomas (Bertha Duncan) Kirkland and Cynthia (Peter) Eodice, all of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Kelli, R. Scott, Dennis II, Erik, Nicholas (Molly Berger) and Christopher Kirkland and Peter (Jessica Macri) Eodice, Jr; step-grandchildren, Tammy Jo and Salvatore Eodice and Pamela (Darrin Fields); great-grandchildren, Giana Ricchiazzi, Cole, Mia, Jacob and Alexis Kirkland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings, Austin K. Kirkland and Homer H. Kirkland.
There will be no prior visitation. Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in Riverside Presbyterian Church, 815-84th Street, Niagara Falls. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Niagara Falls. The LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC. is handling the arrangements.
