Mary Jamgochian

RALEIGH, NC — Mary Jamgochian, 88, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2013, in Raleigh, NC. She was born in 1925 in Detroit, MI, and was a long-time resident of Niagara Falls, NY and Altamonte Springs, FL.

She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Niagara Falls and attended the University of   Buffalo.

Mary was a lifelong committed participant of Armenian communities wherever she lived. She was a 60-year member of the Armenian Relief Society and held numerous offices in the "Lucia" chapter. She was also active in the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the General Society of Vasbouragan while living in Niagara Falls.

In Altamonte Springs, FL, she was a tireless volunteer for over 20 years in numerous        organizations affiliated with RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) which included the Christian Sharing Center and Hospice of the Comforter.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vartkess "Jam". She is survived by her brother, Samuel V. Hagopian; three children, Roxanne Sexton-McElduff (Michael) of Winter Springs, FL, Eileen Cruikshank (William) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Chris Jamgochian (Virginia) of Rolesville, NC; two grandsons, Anthony and Christian and several nieces and nephews. Mary was the daughter of the late Moses and Satenig Hagopian.

A memorial service will be held on September 28, 2013, at 11 AM at St. Hagop Church, 322 Ninth St., Niagara Falls, NY. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church in care of  Roxanne Sexton (Jamgochian), 708 Seneca Meadows Road, Winter Springs, FL 32708.
