William D. Gandley

BUFFALO — William (Bill) D. Gandley, of Lewiston, NY, passed quietly under Hospice care at the Buffalo VA on August 30, 2013, at the age of 74.

Bill was born January 2, 1939 in Lockport, NY to William and Ruth Gandley where he attended local schools before becoming a proud Marine, serving from 1956 to 1960.

Bill worked for the National Gas Company from 1963, and retired in 1991. In retirement he enjoyed traveling and then drove school bus for Ransomville Bus Lines from 2006 to 2013. Bill loved his "kids" and enjoyed his bus runs.

Bill was an avid bicyclist and outdoorsman hiking, kayaking and playing disc golf. He also      enjoyed being with his friends, coffee at the Orange Cat, reading, watching lacrosse, tennis, hockey and other sports.

William was predeceased by his parents and two older sisters, Rovena and Edna; a wife, Judy in 2003; and the love of his life and girlfriend, Barbra in 2012. Surviving is a dear cousin, Darla and other family and his very close friend, Alex, and many other friends and co-workers.

Bill wanted to thank everyone whom cared for him in this last year, including Mount St. Mary's Hospital staff, Lewiston ambulance service and Niagara Hospice.

A private service will be held according to Bill's wishes.
