NIAGARA FALLS —
Pascal S. "Pat" Grenga, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Leone and Santa (Maglie) Grenga.
Pat graduated from Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, NY and Niagara County Community College with a degree in Business Administration. He later completed courses certified by OSHA at Perdue University in asbestos removal and scaffolding. Pat proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 22, 1955, he married Louise (Soprano) Grenga in Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Grenga predeceased him on November 25, 2009. Pat retired as maintenance planner for Occidental Chemical Co., in Niagara Falls, NY, where he also served as plant fire marshal, in 1993 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed playing softball and basketball in the MUNY league while at Occidental. Pat was a longtime member of St. Teresa's Parish in Niagara Falls and served as president of the parish council and also a religious education teacher. He was also president of the Gill Creek Athletic Association and served as a coach and member of the board of directors for the Whirlpool Park Little League, both in Niagara Falls, NY. Pat was also president of the Sandy Cove Condominium Association in Florida. An avid golfer, he shot a hole-in-one on the 8th hole of the white nine at Hyde Park Golf Course in 1990. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Most importantly, Pat centered his life on his family, and will be remembered for his cooking skills and sharing his own baked treats, such as oatmeal cookies, pizza rolls, and pizelles with friends and family.
Mr. Grenga is survived by his four children, Cecelia (Stephen) Anderson of Dallas, TX, Leon (Bibiano) Grenga of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia Grenga of Niagara Falls, NY, and Joseph (Rebecca) Grenga of Wilson, NY; four grandchildren, Brooke (John) DiSarro, Salvatore P. Grenga, Austin Grenga, and Sidney Grenga; one great-grandchild, Cayden DiSarro; a brother, Frank (Joyce) Grenga of Niagara Falls, NY; a sister, Maria (Joseph) Rizzo of Lewiston, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul (Elizabeth of Lewiston,NY) Grenga and Joseph (Faye of Amherst, NY) Grenga.
