Hazel H. (Humphrey) Davis, 90, of Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, August 21st surrounded by her daughters under the care of Hospice in Jeanne's House at Northgate Manor. She was born in Niagara Falls on December 4, 1922, a daughter of the late Harry and Susanna (Brubaker) Humphrey. She attended local schools including Trott Vocational High School.
After school, she began to work as an elevator operator at the United Office Building and then worked as a telephone operator at New York Telephone Company. She married Jesse "Bob" Davis in 1946 and then devoted her time to raising her three children and supporting her husband in his grocery business. Mr. Davis passed away in 1995. She was a longtime member of Bacon Memorial Church where she taught Sunday school and was a Deacon and she was recently recognized for her many years of membership. She enjoyed her time with her family and entertaining friends and loved to travel to New Smyrna Beach, Florida and to California. She belonged to Niagara Frontier Country Club where she enjoyed her favorite pastime of golf. She also enjoyed going to the casino here in Niagara Falls. Hazel spent years making porcelain dolls and snow babies and she was very proud of her collection.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her three children, Suzanne (David) Richards, Dorothy (Frank) Oliverio, and Cheryl (Mike) Cuddahee; and her sister, Dorothy (late Bud) Beseth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bill (Kelly) Rohrback, Melissa Rohrback, Cori (Lynda Smith) Cuddahee, Michelle (Michael) Dashineau, Katie (Russell) Chilberg, Mike Cuddahee, Jr., and Tina Demato; and her step-granddaughter, Lori (Dan) Russell; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by five siblings, Florence (late Clifford) Wilson, Hector (late Dorothy), Roy (late Dorothy), Frank (late Henrietta) and Mabel Humphrey.
