Irene Walker

CRESTVIEW, FL —

Irene Walker, age 87, of Crestview, FL, passed away peacefully Sunday, March, 16, 2014. Irene was born January 20, 1927 in Castleberry, AL to Jimmie Lee and Alice Monroe Stokes. She met and married the late Gus Walker on July 15, 1965.
Funeral services were held March 22, 2014, at New Life Missionary Baptist Church Crestview, FL, with Rev. Joseph Durm, Jr. officiating and McKinnie Funeral Home directing.
Irene was a lovely person; beautiful inside and out. She loved to cook and she had the best sense of humor. She loved people, having fun and cooking for others. For years Irene lived in Niagara Falls, NY. While living there she worked at Beir's and Macy's Department Stores. After relocating to Florida she held several jobs to include working for the Okaloosa County Jail, Okaloosa County Headstart, The Carver Hill Museum, and she worked for Nita Wilkerson in Shalimar, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Hattie, Wilmer and David Stokes; Rosie Williams, Mary Alice Collier, Montez Brown; stepsons, Eugene Walker, Johnnie B. Walker, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories stepson, Huey (Barbara) Walker of Niagara Falls, NY; stepdaughter, Diane Buck of Georgia; siblings, Murdene (Charlie) Baker, Nina Mae Parks, Johnnie Stokes, all of Crestview, FL; six grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
