NIAGARA FALLS —  

Sister Mary Emma Jackson was born on September 12, 1925 in Washington, GA, the only child of the late Thomas Ferrell and the late Came Mae Gresham. Sister Jackson departed this life on March 18, 2013 at Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls, NY. Mary Emma Ferrell and the late Marion Jackson were united in Holy Matrimony on the 26th day of March, in the year of our Lord, 1949. She took care of her husband when he fell ill in their home on Pierce Avenue until his death.
Sister Jackson attended local schools in Washington, GA. She worked as a Presser at Frank & Nick's Dry Cleaners and then later at Capital Dry Cleaners, both located in Niagara Falls until becoming disabled. Her strong faith in the Lord led her to join Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Sister Jackson also was a member of the Sunrising Star Chapters 28 where she held the position of Worthy Matron.
In her leisure time she enjoyed going to Bingo, playing card games, and jigsaw and word puzzles. She enjoyed cooking and even more so eating good homemade southern food. Sister Jackson constantly was praising the Lord and at anytime would sing out in a song of praise. She also loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sister Mary E. Jackson leaves to cherish her memory two sons, George E. Ferrell, and Minister Cozell (Brenda) Ferrell; a stepdaughter, Gwendolyn Lewis; one aunt, Georgia Ann Ferrell Jenkins of Augusta, GA; five grandchildren, Kenneth D. Longmire, Anthony G. Ferrell, Angela M. Ferrell, Cozell Ferrell, Jr., Nicole M. Ferrell; nine great-grandchildren, Brianna Tannehill, Anthony G. Ferrell, Jr., Thomas Tannehill, Tatyana Clark, Simone Longmire, Jamel Ferrell, Kenneth D. Longmire, Jr., Nashaun A. Ferrell, CaySi D. Ferrell; and several cousins; special cousin, Dorothy Blackwell and family. Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas Ferrell and Carrie Mae Gresham; husband, Marion Jackson; and son, James E. Ferrell.
Visitation on Saturday at 11 AM in the New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral to follow at 12 Noon. Burial in Riverdale Cemetery. Arrangements by Williamson Funeral Home, 635 Main St.
