Barbara Lynn (Cattrall) Wallace, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 61. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 25, 1951, the daughter of Charles "Ron" and Janis (Wadsworth) Cattrall of Niagara Falls.
Barbara received her Bachelor's Degree from SUNY at Potsdam and her Master's Degree in International Politics from Boston University. A US Army Veteran, she served as Armed Forces Radio and Television Service Journalist for seven years. Her most recent position was as secretary at the IRS call center in Cheektowaga, NY.
Barbara was a familiar face in the Niagara Falls community. A longtime member of Riverside Presbyterian Church, she served as the Dinner Chair for the annual Robert Burns Dinner, one of the church's most anticipated events during the year. She served as a Commissioned Lay Pastor in the Presbyterian Church for several area churches. She was associated with Girl Scouts for over 50 years. Barb was also organizer of the annual Girl Scout Christmas Tree Project for 16 years. She was a member of the Association of Professional Women Writers, Toastmasters, and Network of Biblical Storytellers. She was instrumental in the development of the Raymond C. Betsch community vegetable garden in Lockport.
She will be dearly missed by her parents; her husband, Sherman C. Wallace, Jr.; two children, David Cattrall of Waynesboro, PA and Deanna Wallace of Accord, NY; three siblings, Elizabeth Katz of Niagara Falls, Kathleen Cattrall (Donald Navor) of Rochester, NY and Pamela Gigliotti (David) of Mechanicsville, VA; and four nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 4 PM in Riverside Presbyterian Church, 815-84th Street, Niagara Falls, with the Rev. Laura Norris-Buisch officiating. Interment will be held privately in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Riverside Education and Music program. The Lane Funeral Home, Inc., is handling the arrangements.
